Oglesby Park Board gives no recommendation on city dog park

By WCMY News Mar 31, 2023 | 4:50 AM

No dog park will be built in Oglesby. At least not until the April 4th election is over. The Oglesby Park Board recommended nothing at their meeting last night. Board Member Bill Walter says he didn’t want the meeting to happen at all. He says the board was a political pawn for the upcoming April 4th election.

He also says the park board isn’t up to date on changes being made to any of the parks.

Five residents spoke to the board and most agreed that the board should not recommend anything until after the election. George Culinan was one of them.

Commissioner and mayoral candidate Jim Cullinan and Commissioner Thomas Argubright wanted the city council to approve a new dog park on 3rd St. at last week’s city council meeting. Mayor Dominic Rivara and Commissioner Jason Curran wanted the park board to make a recommendation before approving a new dog park. It caused the council to stalemate on the dog park and on a sewer valve issue last week. You can read about it in last week’s story that we posted.
