In local sports, in high school softball action, Seneca rolled Serena 13-1, Lasalle-Peru beat Streator 11-1.In high school baseball, St. Bede beat Fieldcrest 4-2, Lasalle-Peru lost to Washington 3-0, Ottawa defeated Rock Island 7-6, and Marquette won over Rock Island Allemen 10-0.

>>Bulls Lose To Lakers

(Chicago, IL)  —  The Bulls had no answer for Anthony Davis during a 121-110 loss to the Los Angeles Lakers at United Center.  The Bulls got cooked by Davis to the tune of 38 points. Nikola Vucevic scored 29 points and had 12 boards in the losing effort.  The Bulls remain in tenth-place in the Eastern Conference at 36-and-40.  They visit the Hornets tomorrow night.

>>Cubs Play Home Opener Against Brewers

(Chicago, IL)  —  Baseball is back on the north-side of Chicago as the Cubs host the Brewers to begin the 2023 season this afternoon.  Chicago is hoping that a busy offseason will help them get back to the postseason for the first time since 2020.  The Cubs signed shortstop Dansby Swanson, former MVP Cody Bellinger, and starting pitcher Jameson Taillon, among others, during the winter.  They’ll send Marcus Stroman to the mound to get things started today.

>>White Sox Begin Season In Houston

(Houston, TX)  —  The Pedro Grifol-era of White Sox baseball gets underway when the Southsiders visit the Astros this evening.  The first-year manager was hired by the Southsiders after Tony La Russa stepped down at the end of last season due to health issues.  The Southsiders added Gold Glover Andrew Benintendi and starting pitcher Mike Clevinger during the offseason, but they also lost first baseman Jose Abreu, who will be in Houston’s home dugout tonight.  Dylan Cease gets the start in game one. >>Blackhawks Host Blues

(Chicago, IL)  —  The Blackhawks will try to snap a six-game losing streak when they host the St. Louis Blues at United Center tonight.  The Blackhawks are coming off a 4-1 loss to the Starts on Tuesday.  Chicago is in the cellar of the Central Division with 54 points and a 24-44-and-6 record.
