A 63-year old LaSalle man faces a reckless conduct charge for a shooting at a LaSalle restaurant last week. The charge says Richard Venegas fired the gun. A 65-year old man got hit in the leg. He’s being treated at a Rockford hospital. Richard Venegas is to be in court April 19.

With a reckless conduct charge, prosecutors believe a defendant knew or should have known that what he did was dangerous and could hurt someone. In other words, he should have been more careful. It stops short of saying the defendant intended to hurt someone.

The shooting happened at Mickey’s Massive Burritos. The restaurant closed immediately after the shooting Wednesday and reopened Monday. Family members say Mickey Venegas has been in a hospital since the incident.
