James M. Stasell, age 88 of Plainfield, IL, since 1969 formerly of Joliet, Crest Hill, and Channahon, IL passed away suddenly, Friday, March 24, 2023 at his home. He was born December 9, 1934 in Streator, IL
Cherished husband of Norma J. Stasell, nee Creamean, wedded on July 3, 1954.
Beloved dad of Lynn (friend, Don Durdan) Mefferd, Jimmy (Colleen) Stasell, David (Cindy) Stasell and Fr. Dean Stasell, LC.
Adored grandpa of Carissa (Andy) Debolt, Ashley (Bryan) Paraspolo, Jill (Dan) Johnson, Brad Stasell, Kallies and Grace Hayden.
Loving great-grandpa of Evan, Grayson and Lorelei Debolt, Quinn and Eliza Johnson, and Luke Parispolo.
Dearest brother of Bill (the late Marian) Stasell. Dear uncle of numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws. He is proceeded in death by his parents, Joseph and Beatrice Stasell, his brother at infancy, Joseph Stasell, Jr. and his sister Mariann (Joe) Boland.
Jim was a 1952 graduate of Streator High School. He was inducted in the Streator Baseball Hall of Fame. He was a long-time dedicated 43 year employee of Caterpillar Construction Equipment Company Inc., retiring as a purchasing agent manager. Jim was a long-time member of St. Mary Immaculate Church and was also a 3rd degree Knights of Columbus. Jim contributed to the Plainfield Little League organization as both a coach and an officer in the late 1960’s and into 1970’s. He also organized the 9 & 10 year old tournaments as well as travelling tournaments in Joliet, Crest Hill area for 11 and 12 year olds. He was an avid White Sox Fan! Jim was a man who was blessed with numerous skills and talents with which he used to help many. His hobbies included woodworking and re-engineering products to improve them. His greatest joys were his grandchildren, with that joy again renewed with the arrival of his great grandchildren.

Visitation: Monday, March 27th 4:00-8:00 PM at Overman-Jones Funeral Home, 15219 Joliet Rd., Plainfield, IL 60540 (Corners of Rt. 59 and Rt. 30).
Prayers will begin Tuesday, March 28th 9:45 AM from the funeral home, and process to St. Mary Immaculate Church for a 10:30 AM Mass of Christian Burial.
Interment will follow at St. Mary Immaculate Cemetery.
