Illinois House passes Fritts bill for retired police dog care

The Illinois House almost unanimously passed a bill last week to help fund retired police dog veterinary care. St. Rep. Bradley Fritts sponsored it. He says many police dogs have medical problems from all the wear and tear their bodies get during police work. Even if a dog is retired because of a severe injury on the job, there’s currently no financial help.

All of this area’s Illinois House members (Yednock, Davis, Fritts, Tipsword, and Bunting) voted yes to change that. The bill now goes to the Senate. It’s House Bill 3588.
