In local sports, in high school softball action, Serena rolled Aurora Christian 17-0, Lasalle-Peru beat Normal Community 8-6, and Ottawa pulled out a win over Minooka 3-2. In high school baseball action, Serena fell to Aurora Christian 11-0, Lasalle-Peru lost to Hall 6-3, and Ottawa defeated St. Bede 6-2.

>>Bulls Get Dominated By Sixers

(Chicago, IL)  —  The Bulls never led during a 116-91 loss to the Philadelphia 76ers at United Center.  Chicago was on the wrong side of a 17-0 run in the first three-and-a-half minutes of the game, and the Bulls were never able to recover. Coby White scored 19 points off the bench to lead the Bulls.  Chicago is in tenth-place in the Eastern Conference with a 34-and-38 record.  The Bulls visit Portland tomorrow night.

>>Blackhawks Visit Capitals

(Washington, DC)  —  The Blackhawks aim to avoid their third loss in a row when they visit the Washington Capitals at Capital One Arena tonight.  The Blackhawks are coming off a 5-0 loss to the Colorado Avalanche on Monday night.  Chicago remains in the cellar of the Central Division with 54 points and a 24-40-and-6 record.

>>Notre Dame Hires Micah Shrewsberry

(Notre Dame, IN)  —  Notre Dame is hiring Penn State’s basketball coach to run its men’s team.  ESPN reports Micah Shrewsberry is finalizing a seven-year contract to join the Fighting Irish.  Shrewsberry turned down a long-term extension from the Nittany Lions as the prospect of going back home became a key factor in his decision.  The coach guided Penn State to the program’s first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2011.  The 46-year-old will replace Mike Brey, who announced back in January he would be stepping down after 23 seasons with Notre Dame.

>>Cubs Name Stroman Opening Day Starter

(Mesa, AZ)  —  The Cubs have selected their Opening Day starter.  The team announced yesterday that Marcus Stroman will man the rubber when the Cubs host the Brewers in their first game of the season a week from today.  The 31-year-old went 6-and-7 with a 3.50 ERA in his first season with the Cubs last year.  In other Cubs news, the team beat the A’s 4-2 in Spring Training yesterday.  They take on Arizona this afternoon.

>>White Sox Lose Both Split Squad Games

(Undated)  —  The White Sox fell twice during their split-squad games in Spring Training yesterday.  Eloy Jimenez returned to Chicago’s line-up after a brief injury as the White Sox lost to the Royals 4-3.  Mike Clevinger gave up one run over five innings during a 2-0 loss to the Texas Rangers.  The Southsiders send Michael Kopech to the mound against the Giants today.
