The Illinois Valley will continue being a place where chemicals are made. Ottawa Mayor Dan Aussem told the Illinois Valley Area Chamber of Commerce State of the Cities luncheon yesterday, another titanium powder maker moved into what was ITP in the city’s industrial park. Coogie is based in Australia and is making titanium powder in Ottawa. Aussem says the company’s making a $50 million investment and creating 70 jobs at what will be the only such production facility in the U.S.

LaSalle Mayor Jeff Grove is getting help after the Carus Chemical fire and plans to help others. He contacted people in Rockton, Illinois where Chemtool had a chemical plant fire in 2021. And he talked to people in Morris where a lithium battery warehouse burned the same year.

IVAC Executive Director Bill Zens says 210 people were in the audience.
