Update: Ottawa Police say three people charged after car crash

A car crash in the 1300 block of LaSalle St. in Ottawa happened yesterday when a police officer tried to pull over a car. Capt. Kyle Booras says three people got out and ran. Eventually, 25-year old Kemar Matthews-Hill, 24-year old Shimund R. Jones, and a 17-year old girl were caught. All are from Chicago.

Matthews-Hill is accused of unlawful use of a weapon by a felon, possession of a stolen vehicle, and possession of stolen registration. Jones is accused of trespassing to a vehicle and possession of a controlled substance. They were taken to the LaSalle County jail.

The 17-year old is accused of possession of a firearm, a controlled substance, and a stolen vehicle. She’s at the LaSalle County juvenile home.

Three people of interest are being held by the Ottawa Police Department after a police officer tried to pull them over Thursday. Ottawa Police Captain* Kyle Booras says the people fled after quickly crashing in the 1300 block of LaSalle Street. One person was found four blocks away and arrested. The other two were found about an hour later. No charges have been filed at this time. We’ll have more information when it becomes available.
