A program called Offender Watch is now being used by the Peru Police Department. It’s a website for residents to look up sex offenders who might live in their area. Police Chief Sarah Raymond explained the program.
Raymond says offenders move frequently so residents can sign up for email alerts. They are done anonymously and there can be as many emails a person wants.
She also says it’s good for the police department because they have to do weekly check-ins on offenders. The new webpage was set up by Community Service Officer Blake Frund. Any Peru resident can use Offender Watch at any time.
