The Ottawa Elementary School Board will be looking for public input on spending. The district has several maintenance projects in every school with some being more important than others. Board Member Lori Kimes says the outside of the buildings are well kept. It’s the inside that might not be as good.

The school board wants to have a community meeting around mid-April to tell stakeholders about the projects and how the money for it could be spent. A referendum might not be out of the question. Board Member Steve Omolecki says many people don’t want to hear the word referendum but it’s something that should be considered. He says a referendum in Democracy in action.

The board wants to focus on all of the schools but some say they want to make Lincoln Elementary a priority. They would also discuss what a Health Life Safety Bond is and also how a referendum for something like a new school could be the best option.
