In local sports, the Shepherd 8th grade volleyball team beat Plano in two sets to open Regional play. Greysyn Carrier led with 13 points and one assist. Ashlynn Ganiere added 10 points and four digs.

>>Bulls Take Down Nuggets With Dominant Second Half

(Denver, CO)  —  The Bulls used a strong second half to beat the Denver Nuggets 117-96 at Ball Arena. Chicago led by as many as 24 points in the victory.  Zach LaVine poured in 29 points to lead the Bulls, and Nikola Vucevic chipped in with 25 points and 15 boards.  Chicago remains in 11th-place in the Eastern Conference at 30-and-36.  The Bulls visit Houston on Saturday.

>>Blackhawks Falter Late Against Detroit

(Detroit, MI)  —  The Blackhawks lost to the Detroit Red Wings 4-3 in a back-and-forth battle at Little Caesars Arena. Taylor Raddysh had a pair of goals in the losing effort.  Chicago remains in last-place in the Central Division with 49 points and a 22-37-and-5 record.  The Blackhawks visit the Panthers tomorrow.

>>White Sox Get Crushed By Kansas City

(Surprise, AZ)  —  The White Sox gave up 11 runs in the first two innings of their 14-5 loss to the Kansas City Royals in Spring Training yesterday.  Dylan Cease allowed all 11 runs in just two-thirds of an inning, having re-entered the game in the second after being pulled in the first.  The Southsiders dropped to 6-and-5 in exhibition play, and they go up against Team Colombia today.

>>Cubs Beat Team Canada

(Mesa, AZ)  —  The Cubs took down Team Canada 11-7 in Spring Training yesterday.  Cody Bellinger went two-for-three with a home run and two RBI during the victory, and Tucker Barnhart also went yard.  Jameson Taillon starts for Chicago against the Reds this afternoon.

>>Illini Take On Penn State In Big Ten Tournament

(Chicago, IL)  —  The Illinois Fighting Illini look to make some noise when they take on Penn State in the second round of the Big Ten Tournament tonight.  The Illini lost twice against the Nittany Lions during the regular season.  Illinois has the number-seven seed in the tournament after finishing the season with a 11-and-9 Big Ten record and a 20-and-11 mark overall.

>>College Basketball Roundup

(Undated)  —  In college hoops action yesterday, DePaul beat Seton Hall 66-65 in the first round of the Big East Tournament.  DePaul goes up against number-15 Xavier tonight.  Northern Illinois plays Kent State in the first round of the MAC Tournament tonight.
