Former Peru Police Chief Glenn Fredrickson has died at age 95. His obituary says after serving in the Army, Fredrickson worked for the Illinois State Police. His work there included security for governors, helping the Secret Service with security for presidents and foreign officials, and training cadets. He directed the state’s response to America’s worst airplane crash in Chicago in 1979.

After he retired, Fredrickson served on the Peru police commission and ultimately became the police chief in 1997. The Peru police department says during the next nine years, Fredrickson started Crime Stoppers, the peer jury, and the Citizens Police Academy.

Fredrickson donated his body to science, so there will be no funeral or visitation. You can read much more about him in his obituary.
