Some materials stored in a Carus warehouse in LaSalle have been moved to a warehouse on Ottawa’s south side. It’s the facility located at the Southtowne Mall. Carus chemical says they were Tier 2 chemicals. Those are chemicals that could cause some harm to people if handled improperly. VP of Operations Alan Gibbs says the company is committed to working with its neighbors to share and protect resources in LaSalle, as well as provide peace of mind. The plan to move the chemicals was first launched in spring last year. Gibbs says delivering on this promise is an important milestone in our relationship with our community. LaSalle residents raised concerns at previous city council meetings about the warehouse on Porter St. because of the conditions it’s in and what’s being stored there.
