Joann Helene Eike was born January 28, 1933, in Ottawa, IL, the daughter of Howard and Judith (Twait) Nelson.
She received her elementary education at Serena and Harding Schools. She went on to graduate from Serena High School class of 1951.
She was employed at Public Service, Berber Greene and the U.S. Postal Service. She served as Postmaster in Wedron from 1975-1985 and Newark from 1986-2002. She was president of Will Co. Postmaster Association for two terms.
Joann married Earle Eike on January 2, 1954 at Freedom Lutheran Church and he preceded her in death on October 27, 1998.
She enjoyed traveling, crafts and games. She belonged to TNT Club, neighborhood card club and bridge club. She also belonged to Friends of the Libary and served on the board for two terms. She was a member of Stavanger Lutheran Church where she was active in Altar Guild, Lutheran Ladies Aid and Homebuilders and served as a treasurer of the church and memorial fund.
Surviving are her sons, Brad (Krystal) Eike, of Plainfield, IL, Scott (Glenda) Eike of Norway, IL, granddaughter Kara (Joe) Korenic, grandson Chad Eike, sister Delores (Jerry) Hennen, brothers Larry (Sarah) Nelson and Wayne (Becky) Nelson, sisters-in-law Elaine Reese and Helen Fry as well as several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and in-laws Mavis and Ron Williamson and Don Reese.

A gathering of family and friends will be held on Thursday, March 9, 2023, from 9:00 AM until a memorial service at 12:00 PM (Noon) at Stavanger Lutheran Church, 2904 N. 32nd Road, Seneca, IL 61360. Inurnment will be private. Arrangements are entrusted to Gabel-Dunn Funeral Home, 102 S. Johnson Street, Newark, IL 60541.
