A half-mile stretch of Illinois 29 in Bureau County will be closed until the fall. An approximately 11-mile detour is in place in the meantime. The Illinois Department of Transportation says six box culverts are being replaced in DePue. A contractor will also resurface the highway.
The closure is from Princeton Rd. to the DePue Spur. Traffic’s being sent to Illinois 26, Interstate 180, U.S. 6, and the DePue Spur.
It’s a $3.4 million project done under the Rebuild Illinois capital program.
