In Local Sports, tonight right here on 1430 WCMY and 93.5 FM the Ottawa Pirates will take on Sterling in the Class 3A Regional Championship game. Tip is scheduled for 7 with the broadcast beginning at 6:50. In boys regional hoops action, Earlville fell to Dakota 48-34, South Beloit won over Somonauk 74-27, and Princeton rolled Hall 88-43. In girls high school hoops, Serena defeated Newark 36-24 to claim the Class 1A Sectional title. Reese Cole led with nine and Jenna Setchell added eight. 

>>Bulls Host Nets

(Chicago, IL)  —  The Bulls tip off the second-half of the 2022-23 season with a game against the Brooklyn Nets at United Center tonight.  The Bulls entered the All-Star Break with a six-game losing streak, but they improved their defense by picking up Patrick Beverley during the break.  Chicago is in 11th-place in the Eastern Conference at 26-and-33.

>>Blackhawks Visit Sharks

(San Jose, CA)  —  The Blackhawks go for their fifth-straight win when they visit the San Jose Sharks at SAP Center tomorrow night.  The Blackhawks are coming off a 4-3 win over the Dallas Stars on Wednesday evening.  However, Chicago remains in last place in the Central Division with 45 points and a 20-32-and-5 record.

>>White Sox Begin Spring Training Games

(Glendale, AZ)  —  The White Sox open up exhibition play with a Spring Training game against the San Diego Padres at Camelback Ranch tomorrow.  Lance Lynn will start the game for the Southsiders.  Tomorrow’s game begins at 2:05PM.

>>Cubs Take On Giants

(Mesa, AZ)  —  The Cubs begin playing Spring Training games this weekend.  Chicago hosts San Francisco at Sloan Park tomorrow afternoon.  The Cubs haven’t announced a starter for tomorrow’s game, which gets underway at 2:05PM.

>>Illinois Upsets Northwestern

(Champaign, IL)  —  The unranked Illinois Fighting Illini knocked off number-22 Northwestern at State Farm Center.  The Fighting Illini trailed by 18 at halftime before outscoring the Wildcats 47-25 in the second half.  Terrence Shannon Jr. broke a 61-61 tie with a go-ahead lay-up in the final 80 seconds of regulation.  He poured in 26 points for the Illini, who improved to 19-and-9 overall and 10-and-7 in Big Ten play.  Illinois visits Ohio State on Sunday.  Boo Buie had a game-high 35 points in the losing effort.  The 20-and-8 Wildcats fell to 11-and-6 in Big Ten action, and they visit Maryland on Sunday.

>>Notre Dame Travels To Wake Forest

(Winston-Salem, NC)  —  The Notre Dame Fighting Irish aim to avoid their seventh-straight loss when they visit Wake Forest in North Carolina tomorrow night.  The Irish are coming off a 63-59 loss against North Carolina on Wednesday.  Notre Dame is in last place in the ACC with a 2-and-15 conference record and a 10-and-18 mark overall.

>>College Basketball Roundup

(Undated)  —  In other college hoops action tomorrow, DePaul visits number-nine Marquette, and Northern Illinois travels to Central Michigan.  On Sunday, Bradley hosts Drake, UIC welcomes Southern Illinois, Illinois State has a home game against Evansville.
