An Ottawa man denies sexually abusing two sisters and says they wouldn’t have deserved something like that to happen to them. The judge who found 32-year old Ayrimis Scerini guilty two months ago still believes he did it and gave him an 18-year prison sentence. Scerini will have to serve about 15 years of it before parole.
Prosecutors charged him with sexually abusing a seven-year old girl after his arrest last March. Testimony at his sentencing hearing this afternoon was that he’d abused the older girl, age eight or nine, before that.
Scerini confessed in an interview with LaSalle County Sheriff’s Department investigators. He told Judge H. Chris Ryan today, he was an abused child and has learned to say whatever he thinks will get him out of a stressful situation—such as police questioning.
