A Streator man accused of shooting at a police officer says his family has hired a lawyer for him. The lawyer wasn’t in court when Courtney Perkins was this morning. Perkins told Judge H. Chris Ryan he believes the lawyer will be available for a hearing next Thursday. Ryan erased the trial on charges of attempted murder and aggravated discharge of a firearm off the calendar for next week. Perkins was representing himself.
The 20-year old Perkins is accused of shooting at an undercover police officer during a drug bust. That officer was arresting 26-year old Alaina Cravatta of Streator. She had allegedly just sold some drugs. She’s also facing charges.
