In Local Sports, in high school boys hoops, Leland fell to Pecatonica 88-24, Earlville beat Lamoille 63-41, Newark defeated Henry-Senachwine 60-31, and Serena rolled Morgan Park Academy 68-29. Tanner Faivre led with 16 and Richie Armour added 15. In other local sports, the Ottawa Dolphins swim team placed 2nd at their home meet on Sunday. Winners included Jonathan Neu, Cole Bressendorf, Cat Collet, Quinn Wilkinson, Addisyn Budnick, Tucker Ditchfield, Elizabeth Hansen, Brennen Heaver, Ryland Heaver, Finley Jobst, Kaiden Lemke, and Bo Weitl.

>Blackhawks Get Revenge On Leafs

(Chicago, IL)  —  The Blackhawks got revenge on the Maple Leafs in a 5-3 victory in Chicago.  Patrick Kane scored a second-period hat trick while Cole Guttman and Max Domi also lit the lamp.  It was Kane’s ninth hat trick of his career.  Chicago improved to 17-32-and-5 and got revenge following a loss to Toronto last week.  The Blackhawks have won two straight games and will host the Golden Knights tomorrow night.

>>Toews Dealing With Covid; Won’t Be Traded

(Chicago, IL)  —  Meanwhile, the Chicago Blackhawks’ captain is dealing with COVID-19 symptoms.  Jonathan Toews hasn’t played since last month and was placed on injured reserve last week with a “non-COVID” illness.  However, the team released a statement on Sunday which said Toews has been dealing with long term effects of COVID and chronic immune response syndrome.  General Manager Kyle Davidson joined ESPN and said the three-time Stanley Cup winner will not be traded due to his health issues.

(Evanston, IL)  —  Northwestern is still one of the hottest teams in college basketball following an 80-60 home-win over Iowa.  Boo Buie led all scorers with 23 points to go with eight assists while Ty Berry netted 16 points.  The Wildcats won their fifth game in a row and improved to 20-and-7.  The team has claimed victories against third-ranked Purdue and Number-15 Indiana during the streak.  The Wildcats will hit the road to play Illinois on Thursday.

(Undated)  —  Meanwhile, the Fighting Illini lost a close game to Number-15 Indiana 71-68.  Illinois is now 17-and-9 and will host Minnesota tonight.  Notre Dame’s losing streak is up to five in a row following a 57-55 defeat to Number-6 Virginia.  The Fighting Irish are now 10-and-17 and will host North Carolina on Wednesday.   Illinois State got blown out by Indiana State 80-64 and will head to Drake Wednesday night.  DePaul got crushed by Number-16 Xavier 82-68 and will host Butler on Wednesday.  Northern Illinois came up short against Miami Ohio 66-65 and will play Ohio on the road tomorrow night.  Bradley squeaked by Southern Illinois 50-48 and will head to Valparaiso on Wednesday.
