Edible Car Contest returns to Illinois Valley Community College

By WCMY News Feb 18, 2023 | 4:53 AM

The Illinois Valley Community College Edible Car Contest is returning. It’s Wednesday at noon in room CTC 124 and anyone is welcome to attend. Participants build their cars entirely out of food and race them down a racetrack. This year’s contest features a new racetrack built by engineering and Computer Aid Design students. It’s made from walnut from a local tree and repurposed material. The fully-automated track also allows side-by-side racing with recorded times from a computer program. Students from IVCC, high school, or middle school can participate and could win in categories like fastest cars, best design, most detail, and most nutritious.

This car was the winner of the most nutritious catagory at the 2013 Edible Car Contest at IVCC.
