A state grant will pay for extending sewer service to the Liz Mar East Addition in Streator. The city applied for the $954,525 grant from the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency. The agency says the grant will also cover the cost of connecting 16 homes to the sewer. The homes in that subdivision don’t have properly working septic tanks because the water table is too high. Water pools in people’s yards.
