A 43-year old Mendota man isn’t allowed to post bond to get out of jail while facing a domestic battery charge. Anil Bhate is also charged with aggravated battery to peace officers. He allegedly kicked them when they found him Wednesday night hiding in a basement closet at the place he’s been living in but was supposed to stay away from.
Prosecutor Matt Kidder said in court today, Bhate is on probation from a domestic battery case that involved the same victim as the new domestic battery case. And Kidder says Bhate has been out of touch with his probation officers.
Bhate could get up to 14 years in prison. He told Judge H. Chris Ryan today he plans to hire a private attorney. He’ll be in court again in two weeks.
