In Local Sports, in high school girls hoops action Saturday Morris beat Streator 42-21 and Earlville lost to Dwight 57-43. In boys high school hoops, Seneca fell to Chicago Hope 52-43. In other local sports, in high school wrestling Ivan Munoz of Ottawa was the lone Pirate to advance to the state tournament after his third place finish at the sectional this past weekend. In girls high school wrestling, Juliana Thrush of Ottawa claimed the Geneseo Sectional Championship and will advance to the state tournament.

>>Fourth Quarter Woes Doom Bulls

(Cleveland, OH)  —  The Bulls had another rough fourth quarter during a 97-89 loss to the Cavaliers in Cleveland on Saturday.  The Bulls took a five-point lead into the final frame before being outscored 28-15 to end the game.  Zach LaVine led Chicago with 23 points in the losing effort.  The Bulls are in 11th-place in the Eastern Conference at 26-and-30.  Chicago hosts Orlando tonight.

>>Blackhawks Fall To Jets

(Winnipeg, MB)  —  The Blackhawks surrendered three goals in the second period of a 4-1 loss to the Jets in Winnipeg on Saturday.  Tyler Johnson scored Chicago’s only goal in the loss.  The Blackhawks remain in last-place in the Central Division with 37 points and a 16-30-and-5 record.  Chicago visits Montreal tomorrow.

>>Dominant Second Half Leads Illini To Victory

(Champaign, IL)  —  The Illinois Fighting Illini used a strong second-half to take down Rutgers 69-60 at State Farm Center on Saturday.  The Illini trailed by four at halftime, but they outscored Rutgers 39-26 in the second half.  Coleman Hawkins had 18 points in the victory.  Illinois improved to 17-and-7 overall and 8-and-5 in the Big Ten.  The Illini are at Penn State tomorrow night.

>>Northwestern Upsets Purdue

(Evanston, IL)  —  The Northwestern Wildcats knocked off number-one Purdue with a 64-58 win at Welsh-Ryan Arena.  Northwestern held the Boilermakers to just 21 points in the second half.  Chase Audige put the Wildcats up for good with a three in the final two minutes of regulation.  Boo Buie led all scorers with 26 points.  Northwestern is now 18-and-7 overall and 9-and-5 in the Big Ten.  The Wildcats host Indiana on Wednesday.

>>Notre Dame Loses To Virginia Tech

(South Bend, IN)  —  The Notre Dame Fighting Irish are on a three-game losing streak following a 93-87 loss to Virginia Tech at Joyce Center on Saturday.  Nate Laszewski had a strong game, finishing with 33 points, but Notre Dame dropped to 10-and-15 overall and 2-and-12 in the ACC.  The Irish visit number-24 Duke tomorrow.

>>College Basketball Wrap-Up

(Undated)  —  In other college hoops action on Saturday, Bradley crushed Murray State 83-48, Valparaiso snuck past Illinois State 81-76, and Northern Illinois defeated Western Michigan 81-53.

>>Chiefs Win Super Bowl 57 Over Eagles

(Glendale, AZ)  —  The Kansas City Chiefs are once again champions.  The Chiefs beat the Philadelphia Eagles 38-35 in Super Bowl 57 from Glendale, Arizona.  KC erased a 24-14 halftime deficit as Harrison Butker nailed the 24-yard game winning field goal with just eight seconds left in the game.  Patrick Mahomes threw for 182 yards, three touchdowns and rushed for 44 yards including a key 26-yard scramble to set up the game-winning kick. Mahomes was later named the MVP of the game. It’s the second time in four years the Chiefs have won the Super Bowl.  Jalen Hurts threw for 304 yards and a touchdown.  The Eagles quarterback also tied a Super Bowl record with three rushing touchdowns.
