Oglesby commissioners mull over bid for electrical substation transformer

By WCMY News Feb 9, 2023 | 10:59 AM

Just one of four bids for an electrical substation transformer got to Oglesby City Hall in time. Commissioners are considering whether to re-bid it.

Commissioner Jason Curran recommends going with the one that came in on time anyway. The $796,523 price comes with a 14-month wait for delivery—about half that of the other bids.

The better lead time doesn’t persuade Commissioner Thomas Argubright.

For now, the bid that got in on time is on file for consideration. The city’s trying to boost electrical system reliability with a substation on Mallick Rd.
