A Yorkville man pleaded guilty to two of the eighteen charges against him in an incident with a St. Charles woman. 40-year old Shawn G. Strahota pleaded guilty to aggravated battery involving strangulation and unlawful restraint last week. Other charges included kidnapping, carjacking, and battery in a public place but they were dropped. Strahota was pulled over in Utica in July last year after he allegedly kidnapped the St. Charles woman. Police Chief Rodney Damron says he noticed a fresh head injury on the woman after he had to calm both people down. The woman then claimed that she was kidnapped by Strahota, although he wasn’t charged at the time because the incident didn’t start in LaSalle County. Strahota must spend six months in the Kane County Jail and gets two years and four months of probation. He does have some charges pending in LaSalle County but they are traffic related.
