In Local Sports, on Saturday right here on 1430 WCMY and 93.5 FM the Marquette Lady Cru fell to Serena 50-35. Lily Craig led with 13 for the Cru and Paisley Twait led with 21 for the Huskers. In other girls high school hoops, Princeton beat Lasalle-Peru 52-49. In high school boys hoops, Seneca defeated Wilmington 42-31. In other local sports, in girls high school bowling the Ottawa Pirates had two sectional qualifiers at the Joliet West regional. Lindy Dhuse with a 1,091 series and Ana Zeglis with a 954.

>>Bulls Comeback To Beat Blazers

(Chicago, IL)  —  The Chicago Bulls overcame a 17-point second-half deficit to beat the Portland Trail Blazers 129-121 at the United Center on Saturday.  The Bulls outscored the Blazers 33-17 in the third quarter and led for all of the fourth.  Zach LaVine poured in 36 points in the victory, and DeMar DeRozan chipped in with 27.  Chicago is ninth-place in the Eastern Conference at 25-and-27.  The Bulls host San Antonio tonight.

>>Illini Get Upset By Iowa

(Iowa City, IA)  —  The number-25 Illinois Fighting Illini lost to unranked Iowa 81-79 at Carver-Hawkeye Arena on Saturday.  The Illini tied the game at 76 when Matthew Mayer knocked down the three with under three minutes left in regulation, but Payton Sandfort hit a go-ahead three for Iowa a couple of possessions later.  Jayden Epps had his game-tying three-point attempt blocked on the Illini’s final possession.  Mayer led Illinois with 21 points in the loss.  The Illini dropped to 16-and-7 overall and 7-and-5 in the Big Ten.  They host Minnesota tomorrow night.

>>Northwestern Takes Down Wisconsin

(Madison, WI)  —  The Northwestern Wildcats earned a 54-52 win in the final minutes of their game against Wisconsin at the Kohl Center.  Boo Buie hit a pair of free throws to put the Wildcats up by one with 30 seconds left in the game, and Northwestern was able to hold on for the victory.  Buie led the Wildcats with 13 points.  Northwestern improved to 16-and-7 overall and 7-and-5 in the Big Ten.  They visit Ohio State on Thursday.

>>Second Half Collapse Dooms Irish

(South Bend, IN)  —  The Notre Dame Fighting Irish struggled in the second half of their 81-64 loss to Wake Forest at Joyce Center on Saturday.  The Irish trailed by one at halftime, but they were outscored 54-38 in the second half.  Nate Laszewski had 18 points in the loss.  Notre Dame is 10-and-13 overall and 2-and-10 in the ACC.  The Irish visit Georgia Tech on Wednesday.

>>College Basketball Wrap-Up

(Undated)  —  In other college hoops action on Saturday, Bradley took down Northern Iowa 77-69, Illinois State lost to Belmont 90-75, Northern Illinois picked up a 86-78 win against Bowling Green.  Yesterday, DePaul was defeated by Seton Hall 69-64. 

>>Jones Plays Strong In All-Star Games

(Sunrise, FL)  —  Seth Jones had a successful NHL All-Star weekend.  The Blackhawks blue-liner led the Central Division to a 6-4 win over the Pacific Division in the division’s first game of Saturday’s All-Star tournament.  Jones had a goal and two assists in the contest.  However, he didn’t register a point in the Central’s loss to the Atlantic Division in the championship game.  Jones and the Blackhawks return to action tomorrow against Anaheim.
