If you’ve been to an Ottawa Area Chamber of Commerce event, you’ve likely noticed the people wearing green jackets. They’re the Chamber’s ambassadors. That program started in 1973 to get the business people who really believe in Ottawa involved in welcoming and helping people at Chamber functions.
They didn’t wear green jackets then. Executive Director Jeff Hettrick recently found a picture of the ambassadors from the 1970’s. In front of Reddick Mansion, they were adorned in yellow jackets.
Hettrick doesn’t know why they changed from yellow to green. But he says the mission is the same.
