In Local Sports, tonight right here on 1430 WCMY and 93.5 FM the Marquette Crusaders will take on Putnam County. Tip is scheduled for 7 with the broadcast beginning at 6:50. Last night right here on 1430 WCMY and 93.5 FM the Marquette Lady Cru defeated Putnam County 44-42. Chloe Larson led with 17 and Lily Craig added 14. In other girls high school hoops, Herscher rolled Streator 71-19,  Earlville lost to Sandwich 51-32, Hall lost to Bureau Valley 26-24, and Seneca rolled Dwight 52-20. In high school boys hoops, Earlville fell to Hinckley-Big Rock 57-46, and Serena beat Newark 46-41. Tanner Faivre led with 14 and Camden Figgins chipped in with 13. In other local sports, the Shepherd 8th grade boys basketball team beat Yorkville last night 39-24  to win the IESA regional championship. Griffin Dobberstein led with 21 and George Shumway added eight. They will next play Monday night on the road against Bolingbrook for the sectional championship. 

>>Third Quarter Rally Leads Bulls Past Hornets

(Chicago, IL)  —  The Chicago Bulls used a strong third quarter to take down the Charlotte Hornets 114-98 at the United Center.  Chicago outscored the Hornets 32-21 in the frame and led throughout the entire second half of the contest.  Ayo Dosunmu led a well-balanced scoring effort from the Bulls with 22 points, and Coby White had 20 off the bench.  Chicago has won two of three.  The Bulls are in tenth-place in the Eastern Conference at 24-and-27.  They host Portland tomorrow night.  In other team news, DeMar DeRozan was named to the 2023 NBA All-Star Game yesterday.  It’s his sixth career All-Star selection.

>>Northwestern Falls To Michigan

(Evanston, IL)  —  The Northwestern Wildcats are on a two-game losing streak following a 68-51 loss to the Michigan Wolverines at Welsh Ryan Arena.  Northwestern trailed by just one at halftime, but the Wildcats were outscored by 16 points in the second half.  Boo Buie poured in 23 points in the losing effort.  Northwestern dropped to 15-and-7 overall and 6-and-5 in the Big Ten.  The Wildcats visit Wisconsin on Sunday.

>>Fighting Illini Visit Iowa

(Iowa City, IA)  —  The number-25 Illinois Fighting Illini go for their fourth-straight win when they visit Iowa at Carver-Hawkeye Arena tomorrow.  The Illini are coming off a 72-56 win over Nebraska on Tuesday night.  Illinois is tied for second-place in the Big Ten with a 7-and-4 conference record and a 16-and-6 mark overall.  Tomorrow’s game tips off at 1:30PM.

>>Notre Dame Hosts Wake Forest

(South Bend, IN)  —  The Notre Dame Fighting Irish are back in action when they host Wake Forest at Joyce Center tomorrow.  The Irish earned a 76-62 win over Louisville last Saturday to snap a four-game losing streak.  10-and-12 Notre Dame is in 13th-place in the ACC with a 2-and-9 conference record.  Tomorrow’s game begins at 12:00PM Central time.

(Undated)  —  In other college hoops action tomorrow, Bradley is at Northern Iowa, UIC welcomes Evansville, Illinois State travels to Belmont, and Northern Illinois has a road game against Bowling Green,  On Sunday, DePaul visits Seton Hall.

>>Jones Preparing For NHL All-Star Game

(Sunrise, FL)  —  Seth Jones is getting ready for his fifth All-Star Game this weekend at FLA Live Arena.  The Blackhawks blue-liner is Chicago’s only representative in the NHL All-Star Game this season.  He’ll play on the Central Division team during Saturday’s tournament, and he’ll participate in the Hardest Shot skills competition tonight.  Jones has four goals and 18 assists in 38 games this season.
