LaSalle County is ahead of the curve for filing court cases online. The Illinois Supreme Court announced an expansion of an e-filing system that includes quasi-criminal and electronic citations. That means cases like major and minor traffic violations, conservation, and civil law cases will all be filed online. Circuit Clerk Greg Vaccaro says the state is trying to get away from paper. He says the state started e-filing three years ago. He says it will get information to people quicker.
He says the county has been integrated with the program e-file since 2017, so he was prepared when the Supreme Court announced the expansion. But he also says he wishes that the state would communicate better so a change like this doesn’t happen so quickly.
