Illinois Conservation Police Sgt. Phil Wire, Officer Sarah Martin, and two other people saved a juvenile bald eagle last week. Wire says the eagle was reported downstream of Starved Rock over the past several weeks. After the eagle was captured it was taken to Countryside Animal Hospital in Streator where X-rays showed injuries that were preventing it from flying. Instead of being euthanized, it was donated to the Illinois Raptor Center in Decatur to be used for educational purposes.
