Construction for rehabbing ten homes in Marseilles could start in the spring. Mayor Jim Hollenbeck says that the state has finally given permission for the city to use the Community Development Block Grant they got back in June last year. He say the city and the North Central Illinois Council of Governments will have a meeting about the $450,000 grant on Tuesday, February 21st starting at 6pm at the Marseilles fire station. Resident making low to moderate income or have a disability are eligible to apply for a portion of the grant. The money can be used for different home improvements like new appliances, handicap accessibility, and electric and plumbing work. The area picked this year is between Main Street east to Chicago Street and Bluff Street south to the river. Hollenbeck also says he’s glad the city can get started on it.
