LaSalle is getting a $2.5 million Illinois Environmental Protection Agency loan for water system improvements. The IEPA says the city will use it to replace the chlorination system and improve the pressure filters. The purpose is to help the city keep providing safe, reliable drinking water. About half the loan amount will be forgiven. The rest will be paid back at 1.24% interest.
