A walking path from the Pohar subdivision to Baker Lake in Peru now allows dogs on it. The city council voted 4-2 Monday to change an ordinance regarding animals in parks. Mayor Ken Kolowski says although you can walk your dog on the path, dogs still aren’t allowed in city parks and they must be leashed. He also says if people are causing issues, the ordinance change could be taken away because they city will be keeping an eye on things.
Aldermen David Woldorf and Jeff Ballard voted against the change. Ballard says he’s concerned that a couple of people could screw up the whole thing for everyone. Aldermen Aaron Buffo and Jason Edgcomb were not at the meeting.
