A $3.2 million grant will help the LaSalle Elementary School District expand its preschool services. The grant comes from the Illinois Capital Development Board and is called the Early Childhood Construction Grant. Supt. Brian DeBernardi says the expansion would add more classrooms onto Northwest Elementary School and allow the school to recruit more kids from birth to age five. He says he’s excited to get the grant because the district is the one rural school district to get it. But the district might not get the entire $3.2 million because they might not be able to spend the money on everything for the expansion.
