A Streator police officer will take a leave of absence after an officer involved shooting Monday morning in Central Park. Police Chief John Franklin says the officer shot a man that was armed with a knife. Both the officer and the man were taken to a hospital but are both going to be okay. Franklin says the Illinois State Police will handle the investigation because a police officer was involved. We’ll have more information when it becomes available.
Correction: We were told by LaSalle County State’s Attorney Joe Navarro that the man involved in the incident is still in the hospital. He is supposed to be arrested when released.
