In Local Sports, tonight right here on 1430 WCMY and 93.5 FM we will have a double header as the Ottawa girls and boys will host Sycamore at Kingman Gym. Tip is set for 5:30 with the broadcast beginning at 5:20 and the boys game to follow with a 7 o’clock scheduled tip. In high school girls hoops action, last night right here on 1430 WCMY and 93.5 FM the Marquette Lady Cru fell to Roanoke-Benson 66-38. Chloe Larson scored 16 and Lily Craig added 11. In other girls high school hoops, Seneca lost to Putnam County 37-34, Herscher rolled Streator 51-19, Earlville defeated Depue 50-22, Hall won over Mendota 44-14, and Newman pulled out a win over St. Bede 46-33. Serena rolled Hinckley-Big Rock 56-26 Jenna Setchell led with 23 and Makayla McNally added 15. 

 >>Illinois Falls To Indiana

(Champaign, IL)  —  Number-23 Illinois had its four-game winning streak snapped with an 80-65 loss to Indiana at State Farm Center.  The Illini trailed by as many as 20 points in the second half of the loss.  Terrence Shannon Jr. poured in 26 points in the losing effort.  Illinois dropped to 13-and-6 overall and 4-and-4 in the Big Ten.  The Illini host Ohio State on Tuesday.

 

>>Notre Dame Basketball Coach To Retire

(South Bend, IN)  —  An era of Notre Dame basketball will be coming to an end after this season.  Head coach Mike Brey plans to step down at the end of the season, capping a 23-year run in which he has become the winningest coach in the men’s basketball program’s history.  Brey has led Notre Dame to 13 NCAA tournaments, including back-to-back Elite Eight appearances in 2015 and 2016.  Entering the season, Brey was 472-and-259 while at Notre Dame, earning three Big East Coach of the Year awards and leading the Fighting Irish to the 2015 ACC tournament championship.  In other program news, the Irish host Boston College tomorrow.

>>Bulls Topple Pistons In Paris

(Paris, France)  —  The Chicago Bulls never trailed on the way to a dominant 126-108 victory over the Detroit Pistons in the NBA Paris Game.  Zach LaVine scored a team-high 30 points for Chicago, while Nikola Vucevic pitched in with a double-double of 16 points and 15 rebounds.  DeMar DeRozan shot 50-percent from the field and converted all eight of his free throws to finish with 26 points.  Seven Bulls players finished the game with double-digit scoring numbers.  Chicago improves to 21-and-24 and has now won two in-a-row.  The Bulls host Atlanta on Monday.

>>Blackhawks Crush Flyers

(Philadelphia, PA)  —  The Chicago Blackhawks stayed hot with a 4-1 win over the Philadelphia Flyers at Wells Fargo Center.  Chicago gave up a goal in the first period before ending the game with four unanswered scores.  Jonathan Toews tied the game at one in the second period, and Reese Johnson gave Chicago the lead for good later in the frame.  Tyler Johnson and Philipp Kurashev also lit the lamp in the victory.  The Blackhawks have won five of their last six games, but they remain in last place in the Central Division with 30 points and a 13-26-and-4 record.  They visit the Blues tomorrow night.
