Ottawa’s getting another grant from the Morton Arboretum for planting trees. Mayor Dan Aussem says they could be planted just about anywhere in the city where there aren’t many trees or where some were removed. City Hall has taken some requests.
The arboretum is giving the city $25,000 and the city’s adding $35,000 to the pot. In the last few years, the city has planted trees on city property on Boyce Memorial Dr., on W. Norris Dr., on Illinois 23 on the south side, in south side neighborhoods that lost trees in the 2017 tornado, and in city parks.
