An Ottawa man has been ticketed or arrested four times since December 3rd and that’s too many times for Judge Cynthia Raccuglia. Especially since 33-year old Anthony T. Sustek is still facing other charges going back to 2018. Today, she ordered Sustek jailed without bond.
Sustek is accused of shooting at someone in August 2018 and under-ringing merchandise at a store checkout the next day. Guilty pleas were scheduled at various times since the charges were filed, but Sustek never went through with them. So the charges are still pending. Prosecutors say more recently, Sustek burglarized a Walmart store and got some traffic tickets including one for a crash that hurt someone.
Sustek’s defense lawyer said accused murderers get to post bond and so should Sustek since the allegations against him aren’t as bad. Judge Raccuglia said it’s not the nature of the crimes Sustek’s accused of, it’s him repeatedly getting in trouble that made her revoke bond. Sustek is to be in court again February 2.
