Marseilles water and sewer extension is almost done

The water and sewer extension project in Marseilles will be done in a few weeks. Water and sewer lines were added on 11th St. and go up Rutland St. to Interstate 80. City Engineer Mike Etscheid says a water booster station that helps get water to residents and businesses north of city is ready to be used. But the city is waiting for Ameren Illinois to hook up electricity to a sewer lift station that broke and was repaired Monday. The entire project will have taken more than a year to complete. Marseilles Mayor Jim Hollenbeck says the extension should draw businesses to the city. He told WCMY in July of 2021 that the city has been working on the project since the 1970’s but back the previous city councils were annexing land into the city for the project.
