Carus LLC says it’s providing car washes and power washes to get potassium permanganate off of people’s things. It provided 42 car washes and held two community car wash events since the fire at Carus Chemical in LaSalle last week. And it took almost 250 telephone calls at a hotline that’s still open at 815-224-6662. The Carus LaSalle facility makes the compound and it rained down on areas north and northwest of the fire scene last Wednesday. Potassium permanganate is a water purifying oxidizer.
