Republicans in the 103rd Illinois General Assembly that represent LaSalle County are ready to get to work. Representatives were sworn in last Wednesday at the University of Illinois-Springfield campus and State senators were sworn in at the old Illinois State Capitol. But they have also said that there could be a tough battle ahead. St. Sen Sue Rezin of Morris, who’s represented the 38th Senate District since 2010, says one of the challenges in the new assembly is a progressive Democrat agenda.

St. Sen Win Stoller of Germantown Hill says when he was sworn in he remembered a quote from Abraham Lincoln about how if individuals can do the work, the government should not interfere. He says the government is interfering.

Audio PlayerSt. Representatives Jed Davis and Dennis Tipsword were also sworn in. St. Rep Lance Yednock of Ottawa is the only Democrat representing LaSalle County in Springfield. There will be another pick for the Illinois House 106th after Sen. Thomas Bennett was picked to serve at the 53rd senate district senator when Jason Barickman announced his retirement. We also recieved comments from Davis and Bennett.
