A car versus semi truck accident in Grand Ridge on Monday morning ended up sending a woman to OSF St. Elizabeth Hospital in Ottawa with moderate injuries. Fire Capt. Jim Roux* said the woman was driving out of the city on Main St. and did not stop at the stop sign on IL 23. She hit the side of a semi-truck trailer going north on 23. Her car was totaled, and the axle on the semi-trailer will need extensive repairs. Fire Capt. Jim Roux* said Grand Ridge Elementary School administrators controlled the intersection until fire and EMS arrived. Although children were getting off the school buses at that time, no buses or children were involved in the accident.
