Two top Illinois lawmakers disagree on temporary stop of ending cash-bail in state

Illinois Republicans are praising the pause pre-trial detention of the Illinois SAFE-T Act. The Illinois Supreme Court ruled that ending cash-bail would not happen until they hear arguments about the law. Assembly Minority Leader Jim Durkin says the law needs to go and attempts to make minor fixes don’t go far enough.

Gov. Pritzker says he’s disappointed with the decision of the court but believes that the no-cash bail law will stand the test of constitutionality.
