The city of Marseilles is looking to get a grant to make repairs to the city’s library. A state grant could help fix the concrete gutters on the Marseilles Library. Mayor Jim Hollenbeck says because of the extreme heat over the summer the gutters cracked and caused water to leak inside the library. He says the project could cost about $250,000 for concrete repairs including mortar and tuck-pointing.

For example, Hollenbeck says if the city gets a $175,000 grant; the city would have to pay for the rest of the project. He says the city could spend less to install aluminum gutters but they to keep the library looking like it did when it was first built in 1905.
