A hair found on one of the victims of the Starved Rock Murders didn’t belong to 83-year old Chester Weger according to his attorney trying to help him clear his name. This is another one of our top stories of 2022. Back in August Attorney Andy Hale says the hair proves not only that Weger didn’t commit the murders but he wasn’t at the scene at all. He has since asked the court to be able to test the hair to find out who it belongs to.

Hale says more hairs found on Lillian Oetting will also tested, but they will be looking for a different type of DNA.

Back in October Judge Jansz also approved a subpoena on “The Starved Rock Murders” author Steve Stout because he has original documents from the 1960’s murder case including Weger’s confession, which Hale says is fabricated. Hale continues to claim that he has cleared Weger’s name but wants to find more evidence to close the case for good. Weger will be back in court in February.
