In Local Sports, yesterday right here on 1430 WCMY and 93.5 FM the Ottawa Pirates fell to Marmion Academy 61-28 at the Plano Christmas Classic. Aiden Mucci led Ottawa with 6.  The Marquette Crusaders defeated Reed-Custer 69-57. Tommy Durdan and Charlie Mullen had 18 apiece and Logan Nelson added 17.Tonight on 1430 WCMY and 93.5 FM we will have another double header Starting at 3:30 as the Ottawa Pirates will take on Yorkville Christian with pregame beginning at 3:20.  The Marquette Crusaders will play Seneca at 8 in the Marquette Christmas Tournament championship with the broadcast beginning around 7:50.  In other high school boys hoops action yesterday, Seneca pulled out a win over Serena 58-57. Paxton Giertz had 20 to lead Seneca and Richie Armour scored 19 for Serena. Hall lost to Lexington 59-41,Wilmington defeated Earlville 50-44, St. Bede fell to Dwight 69-68, and Streator was rolled by Burlington Central 72-36. In local girls high school hoops, Serena pulled out a win over Hall 31-23. Jenna Setchell had 8. Putnam County beat St. Bede 38-25, St. Bede also lost to Fieldcrest 73-46. Seneca fell to Fieldcrest 59-43. The Marquette Lady Crusaders won over Kewanee 40-31. Lily Craig scored 27 to lead Marquette. 

>>Bulls Come Back To Beat Bucks

(Chicago, IL)  —  The Bulls overcame a 15-point fourth-quarter deficit to beat the Milwaukee Bucks 119-113 in overtime at United Center.  Ayo Dosunmu tied the game with a fastbreak dunk with under eight seconds left in regulation to send the game to an extra frame, where DeMar DeRozan hit a go-ahead jumper with 31 seconds left to put Chicago up for good.  DeRozan scored 42 points and had ten rebounds, and Zach LaVine chipped in with 24 points.  The Bulls have won four of their last five.  They’re tied for tenth-place in the Eastern Conference at 15-and-19.  Chicago hosts Detroit tomorrow night.

>>Illinois Hosts Bethune-Cookman

(Champaign, IL)  —  Number-22 Illinois wraps up non-conference play with a game against Bethune-Cookman at State Farm Center tonight.  Illinois lost to Mizzou 93-71 last Thursday.  The Illini are 8-and-4 overall and 0-and-2 in the Big Ten this season.

 

>>Northwestern Takes On Brown

(Evanston, IL)  —  The Northwestern Wildcats go for their fifth consecutive win when they host Brown at Welsh-Ryan Arena today.  Northwestern crushed UIC 92-54 in the Wildcats most recent game on December 20th.  Northwestern is 9-and-2 overall and 1-and-0 in the Big Ten.  Today’s contest gets underway at noon.

(Undated)  —  In other college hoops action yesterday, Bradley lost to Belmont 63-60, and UIC beat Illinois State 55-51.  

>>Blackhawks Visit Blues

(St. Louis, MO)  —  The Blackhawks will try to get back in the win column when they visit the St. Louis Blues at Enterprise Center tonight.  The Blackhawks are coming off a 3-0 loss to the Carolina Hurricanes, their 17th loss in their last 19 games.  Chicago is in last place in the Central Division with 20 points and an 8-21-and-4 record.

>>Two Bears Miss Practice

(Lake Forest, IL)  — The Bears might be without two of their top receivers this week.  Chase Claypool and Equanimeous St. Brown both missed practice yesterday with injuries.  The initial injury report also listed six other players as limited participants.  Chicago visits Detroit on Sunday.
