Last night on Thursday Night Football,  The Jacksonville Jaguars’ defense allowed just a field goal as they rolled to a 19-3 win over the Jets in East Rutherford, New Jersey.  The Jaguars  Trevor Lawrence threw for 229 yards and also ran for 51 yards and a touchdown.  The Jags have won three straight to improve to 7-and-8. The Jets dropped to 7-and-8.  

This weekend, The Chicago Bears will try to stop the Buffalo Bills from clinching their division when the two teams meet at Soldier Field on Christmas Eve.  The Bears will also be looking to put an end to their losing streak.  Chicago has dropped each of its last seven games and is currently last in the NFC North at 3-and-11.  

 

Other matchups in the NFC North, The Vikings will host the Giants, The Lions are at the Panthers  and the Packers at the Miami Dolphins on Christmas Day.

 

The Chicago Bulls go for their third consecutive win when they visit the New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden tonight.  The Bulls beat Atlanta on Wednesday.  

 

The Blackhawks look to put an end to their recent nightmarish stretch when they host the Columbus Blue Jackets at the United Center tonight.  The Blackhawks lost to Nashville on Wednesday to extend their losing streak to eight games.  The Hawks are in last place in the Central Division with a 7-20-and-4 record.  

 

In College Hoops

The number-16 Illinois Fighting Illini were upset by the Mizzou Tigers 93-71 in their Braggin’ Rights game at Enterprise Center.  Illinois was outscored 51-27 in the first half and was never able to make its way back into the game. The Illini are now 8-and-4 overall and 0-and-2 in the Big Ten.   

 

Other college hoops action yesterday, Loyola lost to Stanford, Bradley beat Akron and Northern Illinois took down Indiana State. This weekend, DePaul visits Creighton on Christmas Day.

 

There are a couple  College Football Bowl Games tonight, Louisiana faces Houston at the Independence Bowl in Shreveport, Louisiana and Wake Forest takes on Missouri at the Gasparilla Bowl in Tampa, Florida.

 

Major League Baseball News

The Cubs signed starting pitcher Drew Smyly and catcher Tucker Barnhart to deals yesterday. Smyly was 7-and-8 with a 3.47 ERA  with the Cubs last season, while Barnhart hit .221 with a home run and 16 RBIs with Detroit.

 

The White Sox acquired relief pitcher Gregory Santos from the San Francisco Giants in a trade that sent minor league pitcher Kade McClure to the Bay Area.  Santos only pitched in two games for San Fran last season.

YouTube will be the new home of the NFL’s Sunday Ticket package.  The league and Google announced a multi-year agreement that makes YouTubeTV the exclusive carrier of the subscription package. Sunday Ticket will be available as an add-on for YouTubeTV subscribers or as a standalone subscription.
