Winter storm watch Thursday night to Saturday morning

By WCMY News Dec 20, 2022 | 7:06 AM

The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm watch from 6pm Thursday to 6am Saturday. Falling and blowing snow could make it hard or impossible to see where you’re going when driving. Power outages are possible because of strong, damaging winds. Wind chills down to -30° could cause frostbite on exposed skin in 20 minutes. People are advised to prepare for the cold and snow.

There is also a minor risk of ice jams on the Fox River. Blocks of ice can jam up against bridges and dams, causing water to back up behind them. Ice jams happen suddenly and unpredictably. Anyone living or having other interests upstream of areas prone to ice jams could have flooding with little or no notice.
