Illinois Valley Community College continues adding scholarships. The Epley-Wright Scholarship honors Joyce and Clarence Epley who used to live in Granville. Six of the couple’s nine children went to IVCC. Their daughter and son-in-law, Jackie and Steven Wright, created the scholarship with a $10,000 contribution. It’s for students from Granville, Magnolia, Mark, McNabb, or Standard who want to go into business or technical fields. Jackie Wright worked for IVCC from 1996 to 2006.
A Cedar Point couple are being honored with a new scholarship too. The Lyndon and June Hiltabrand Memorial Agriculture Scholarship is for students who’ve been in ag-related clubs. Lyndon Hiltabrand farmed his entire working life and was a member of the Shorthorn Breeders Association and Farm Bureau. June Hiltabrand was a homemaker and partner on the farm. At one time, she led the Cedar Point Jolly 4H Club.
