In Local Sports, in high school girls hoops, Marquette fell to Putnam County 43-37. Lily Craig scored 10 for the Lady Cru. In other local sports, the Ottawa Boys Bowling team lost to Mendota. Nelson Brandt led Ottawa with a 643 series, including high games of 224 and 221, while Robbie Burke had a 511 series. The Seneca Wrestling team defeated Reed-Custer and Pontiac in the dual meet. In boys high school hoops, Hall pulled out a victory over St. Bede 67-58. Mac Resetich had 44 for Hall. The Ottawa Pirates found out their seed at the Plano Christmas Classic. The Pirates will be the seventh seed and play unseeded Lisle on December 27th at 12:30. Streator earned an eight seed and they will play Hinckley-Big Rock at 5:30 on December 27th. The top seed for the tournament will be defending champion Burlington Central.

(Chicago, IL) — The Bulls overcame a 14-point deficit in regulation only to lose to the New York Knicks 128-120 in overtime. DeMar DeRozan laid in the game-tying bucket with under 30 seconds left in regulation to send the contest to an extra frame. However, with the game tied at 119, the Bulls gave up a 9-0 run to seal their fate. DeRozan poured in 32 points in the losing effort, while Zach LaVine scored 25. Chicago dropped to 11-and-16, and the Bulls host the Knicks again tomorrow night. In other Bulls news, ESPN is reporting that there are “no guarantees” that Lonzo Ball returns from his knee injury this season.

(Chicago, IL) — The Blackhawks look to end a four-game losing streak when they host the Vegas Golden Knights at United Center tonight. The Blackhawks are coming off a 7-3 loss to the Washington Capitals on Tuesday, their 12th loss in their last 13 games. Chicago is in last place in the Central Division with 18 points.

(Lake Forest, IL) — The Bears were missing a handful of players in their first practice of Week 15. Offensive tackle Larry Borom, wide receiver Chase Claypool, and tight end Trevon Wesco were all out with injuries yesterday. Four other players dealing with injuries were listed as full participants, including rookie defensive backs Kyler Gordon and Jaquan Brisker, who both exited the concussion protocol earlier this week. The Bears will host the 12-and-1 Eagles on Sunday.

(Champaign, IL) — The Illinois Fighting Illini are bringing in a transfer tight end for next season. Colorado State redshirt freshman Tanner Arkin announced yesterday that he will join the Illini in 2023. Arkin has three years of eligibility remaining. He caught 14 passes for 116 yards with Colorado State in 2022.
